This is just a spur of the moment writing I came up with while thinking about the horrors of counseling and the fact my ex boyfriend wanted me to get into it. Hope you like it.
An Interesting Theory
Who would want to be a counselor? When you think about it, that would be a really crappy job. After all, would you really want to have to fake compassion and understanding just to temporarily calm some lost and lonely soul that doesn't belong anywhere anyway, when when you know that they find no consolation in anything except their own worlds? Common sense says that an outsider will think on the outside as well. Think about my heroes like Aaron Lewis of Staind, Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, or Terri Balsamo of Cold. The whole origin of music like that came out of the need to be secretive and keep everything inside. Therefore, these people are, well, not exactly content in their worlds, but at least they know they belong there.
Another problem is the trust factor. Would you really want to try to form a relationship with somebody who's been destroyed from the inside, so that they're made to believe they're worthless and that they can't trust themselves, let alone anyone else? I think I'd rather leave these people to their own devices.
Yet another thing, what about all the negative connotations associated with counseling? If nonconformists aren't already driven away by the stereotypes that all basically say you're crazy if you seek counseling, it's the whole issue, as a counselor, having to worry that you're already hateed by this by this person, and the only reason they're there is because some well-meaning family member thought they were insane as well and put them in the hands of a so-called "professional."

there's so much anger here i can imagine you
standing front of a crowd explaining this with great passion.

some shake their heads in confusion while others say i understand that totally.
